My painting style emphasizes the connection between the ancient past, the present and the distant future through universal symbolism. There is a metaphysical meaning to most of my work. My mixed media paintings start with intuitive planning, then they are built up step by step using the controlled unexpected events that occur to enhance the message. I do oil paintings, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media paintings. I also do metalwork and Jewelry design and manufacture. My formal training at Eastern Michigan University was in both oils and watercolors. Much of my mixed media painting is done on heavy rag paper. I use whatever processes or materials that intuitively occur to me as I work on each piece to enhance the creative statement.

I worked in the commercial jewelry industry for a while and I have done Post Graduate studies in the field. I create jewelry, metal work and sculpture that is first drawn and planned out, then usually changes while working, as I come up with new ideas. I enjoy the challenge of jewelry work, because as you work on a piece there is often an unexpected challenge to solve.

Most of the jewelry I make is of sterling or fine (pure) silver. I sometimes add gold to the silver, usually a high karat gold which is 18 to 24 karat. I often set my work with various unusual gems. I can make copys of many of the earrings and pendants in other sizes and with other stones. Each piece would be handmade, however and there would be slight variations. I can make a similar custom made ring of my signature Wave style. Each of the Wave series of rings is unique and made to fit the hand comfortably. All work is artist signed.
